Presiding over the Valedictory Session of the 7th National Conference on Recent Advances in Chemical, Biological and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Devinder Singh, Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala appreciated the initiative of the college in organizing National Conference for the 7th year consecutively. He further said that such endeavors not only improve the quality of teaching but also inspire the students to pursue research work.
Former Principal and College Management representative Sh. Surindra Lal said that a true research scholar never complains of the scarcity of resources or the facilities to do quality research. He further said that such research findings should be utilized for the benefit of the society.
Dr. Paramjit Singh Panesar from SLIET, Longowal said that recent biotechnological techniques have opened up newer possibilities for rapid improvement in quality and quantity of available foods. These are likely to play an important role in societal transformations.
Dr. Ashok Kumar from Punjabi University, Patiala said that new research in genomics will be used not only to diagnose and treat diseases but also to enhance human performance. He highlighted the potential misuse of this technology and raised the question of ‘gene doping’.
Dr. Harsh Kumar Manchanda, NIT, Jalandhar and Dr. Ravi Bhushan, IIT, Roorkee also presented their research papers.
Dr. Vinod Kumar, MM University, Maulana, Sh. Atul Kumar, St. Xavier’s College, Ahemdabad, Dr. Amit Malik, D. S. College, Delhi, Sh. Parnoy Jain, KUK and Sh. Vikas Dutt, KUK got the Best Poster Presentation Awards in Chemical, Environmental and Biological Sciences respectively. Prof. Ravinderjit Singh, AS College, Khanna and Dr. Ashwani Mittal, KUK were the judges for the evaluation of poster presentations.
Mr. Amit Gupta, KUK, Sh. Amanjeet Singh, Thapar Univesrity, Patiala and Dr. Prachi Gupta were honoured with young scientist awards. Dr. Devinder Singh and the College Principal felicitated the scholars who presented their papers. The College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar and Sh. Surindra Lal felicitated the Chief Guest Dr. Devinder Singh. Dr. Ashwani Sharma presented the vote of thanks and Dr. Rajeev Sharma conducted the stage.
